The S.A.L.A.D. Simulator (Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination) is designed to enhance first-pass success in laryngoscopy (FPS-L) by simulating a non-anaesthetised patient experiencing active emesis. This advanced airway management trainer allows learners to practise intubation, ventilation, and suction techniques in realistic conditions.
The simulator supports oral, digital, and nasal intubation, as well as insertion of E.T., E.O.A., P.T.L., L.M.A., Combitube®, and King System devices. It permits suctioning and proper cuff inflation while managing simulated vomitus. Anatomical landmarks include teeth, tongue, oral and nasal pharynx, larynx, epiglottis, arytenoids, false cords, true vocal cords, trachea, oesophagus, and cricoid cartilage. Learners can apply cricoid pressure to alter tracheal position and close the oesophagus, practise the Sellick manoeuvre, and experience realistic challenges such as a slightly anterior airway position.
Built with rugged, one-piece construction, the simulator includes manual carotid pulse and offers room to manoeuvre, making it suitable for both introductory and advanced airway management training.
